Spectator Etiquette

Strathcona Gardens is committed to being a family-friendly recreation facility, providing the community a safe place to participate and spectate recreation and events. To honour this commitment, the Strathcona Regional District would like to remind all patrons about respectful spectator etiquette.

The following safety measures are in place when entering the facility:

  • Patrons and their property may be subject to inspection upon entry to the facility.
  • The following may cause refusal of entry:
    • Impairment related to alcohol or drug consumption
    • Possession of alcohol, drugs or items deemed to be weapons
    • Abusive behavior or language
  • Liquor is not to be consumed anywhere in the facility except for the designated beer gardens area in the mezzanine of the Rod Brind’Amour Arena, by adults who are 19 years and older, in accordance with BC liquor laws.
  • No smoking outside any facility doors or near air intakes. The Province of BC’s Tobacco and Vapour Products Control Regulation sets a six-metre area around any doorway, air intake or open window to any public or work place in which no one can stand and use tobacco or vapour products.
  • Skateboards, scooters, and bikes are strongly recommended to be left at home or outside the facility, due to safety concerns.  Strathcona Gardens reception has bike locks available to lend out, if needed.
  • Animals are not permitted inside Strathcona Gardens, exceptions include guide, sign, and signal dogs to persons with disabilities.
  • Abuse, harassment, or discrimination will not be tolerated. Patrons will be escorted out of the facility if there is any fighting, threatening remarks or gestures, or obscene language to other patrons or staff.
  • Just a reminder to all, please watch your language and gestures. Obscenities in public are by nature offensive, no matter how free-spirited the atmosphere.

The Strathcona Gardens are implementing a screening process for large events and patrons are recommended to arrive earlier than usual as the new screening/inspection measures may take some extra time upon arrival.

The Strathcona Regional District is delighted to continue to offer its patrons family-friendly entertainment and appreciate the community’s patience while additional safety measures are put in place.
